We live in a disposable society. When something is broken, like crayons, we throw them out. Long gone are the days of darning socks or repairing appliances. In my neighborhood it is not uncommon to see furniture sitting on the curb awaiting trash collection. Recently, as I left my house for work, I saw a dresser sitting on the curb. Sure, it had a scratch or two, but I do not believe it was trash. There was still life left in it. The dresser had potential it just needed to be realized. In my mind I could see the dresser repaired, sanded, and painted a bright shade of blue. I saw the dresser being used as a beautiful entertainment center, the focal point in a room. The person who discarded the dresser saw it as trash, I saw a piece of furniture that could be revived and brought back to life.

I feel that far too often we measure people by the same standards that we measure things. Our world is quick to toss a side the person who has had more than their fair share of troubles. They are seen as damaged or broken. The truth is, there is nothing wrong with being broken, the only fault is in staying broken. I have a heart for women who are in struggle; I have been there too! I desire to reach hurting women and help them find themselves. I want to help women who have been broken by life find their light so they can shine again!
